The short version

What we collect

Nothing while you read. There is no account to create, no newsletter and no comment box.

There are two exceptions, and you choose both: if you email us, we have your email, and if you write to Fitz in the chat, we have what you write. We use them to answer you and for nothing else. We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not sell what you send, and we do not pass it to anybody except as the next section says.

The chat with Fitz

Fitz is an AI assistant, not a person. Nothing is sent until you write to him. When you do, your message goes to this site, which passes the conversation so far to the AI service that writes his replies, so he can follow along. Nothing about the chat is stored in your browser, and reloading the page ends it.

We keep each chat, and anything you ask Fitz to pass to a person, together with the name and email address you give him, so that we can answer you and see what people ask. We delete a chat, and what Fitz passed on from it, three years after its last message, or sooner if you ask.

So that the chat cannot be flooded, the site counts messages from each network. It counts a fingerprint of your internet address, made with a secret key and changed every day, so it cannot be turned back into your address. The counts are deleted within two days, and your address itself is never kept.

Please do not share passwords, card numbers or health details in the chat.

What our host sees

This site is served by a hosting provider, and like every host on the internet it records ordinary connection information in order to deliver pages and to protect the service from abuse. That typically includes:

• the IP address the request came from
• the page requested and the time it was requested
• the type of browser and operating system it reports

We do not use those logs to build a profile of anybody, we do not join them to any other data, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors from them. They exist because a web server cannot function without them.

Our applications

This policy is about this website only. Any application we publish carries its own privacy policy, written for that application, and it is linked from the application's own listing and from this site when it is published. The published applications and their policies are:

An app is a different piece of software with different behavior, and one policy pretending to cover both would be vague about both.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information a company holds about you, to have it corrected, or to have it deleted. In our case the answer is short: unless you have emailed us or written to Fitz, we hold nothing about you at all.

If you have, and would like it deleted, ask and we will delete it.

Children

This website and its chat are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly keep anything a child sends. If a child has written to us or to Fitz, ask and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. We will not quietly widen what we collect and leave this text standing, because the text above is a description of how the site is actually built rather than a set of permissions we have reserved.
